Profile

Somya Mathur is a doctoral student at the Department of Economics at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV).  She completed her master's degree in economics from the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pune, India in 2003. She was co-founded a company in India's Air Charter business and worked in it for a decade. She later pursued her interest in Economics Research in 2017. She worked at research institutes in India including National Council of Applied Economic Research, New Delhi, India. She has written newspaper articles in national dailies of India and papers in her research area. 

Her areas of interest are in Climate Change and trade. She uses Computational General Equilibrium models in her research. She started her doctorate in January 2025 and is currently working on Macroeconomic impacts of Energy Transition in India.
