Overview

The Research Centre on Economics and Sustainability (ECO-SOS), created in 2020, is a centre located at the Department of Economics of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili. This centre has been created from a previous research centre, the Research Centre on Industrial and Public Economics (CREIP), founded in 2010.

ECO-SOS has a team of more than forty researchers from different topics about economics and sustainability. These research lines can be grouped into the following: Environmental and Climate Economics, Health Economy, Regional and Urban Economics, Education and Labor Market, Business and Innovation, Energy and Natural Resources, Industrial Organization, Economic Policy and Sustainability, Game Theory and Environmental Conflicts, and Transport and Tourism.

ECO-SOS provides some facilities for the research activities of their members, including a forum for the dissemination of the scientific knowledge through seminars and working papers.

ECO-SOS activities include the organization of seminars, workshops, international conferences and organizational support for members 'research activities.

CREIP (centre predecessor of ECO-SOS) was directed by Maria Llop, professor of the Department of Economics of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili, and its academic secretary was Josep-Maria Arauzo-Carod, also professor of the same university, until November 2013. From that date until October 2019 it was headed by Bernd Theilen, professor of the Department of Economics and, as academic secretary, Ricardo Flores, associate professor of the same department. From November 2019 to November 2025, the director was Josep-Maria Arauzo-Carod, professor in the Department of Economics, and as academic secretary, Cori Vilella-Bach, tenured professor in the Department of Business Management.

The current chair of ECO-SOS is Miqguel Manjón, professor of the Department of Economics and the academic secretary is Yuliya Lovcha, associate professor of the same department.
